Les projets Cassia/Cassia Projects establishes and facilitates interdisciplinary and intercultural artistic exchanges through collaboration, education, and performance making.

 

Cassia is an arts initiative started in 2012 by Peter Balov and Anna Vigeland, a Bulgarian and an American in Montreal, Canada.  

 

Since its founding, Cassia has led varied projects, including:

 

  • If dusk tangled with dawn  - Athens, Greece (2012)
    Collaborative performance developed and presented with Greek artists at Kinitiras Studio. Link

  • Circus arts and physical theatre workshop for local artists combined with research residency - Vilnius, Lithuania (2012) Link

  • Workshop for local students combined with research residency at Antitesi Circo Teatro, Pondera & Pisa, Italy (2013) Link

  • Interdisciplinary research lab with Azul Teatro at the Città del Teatro di Cascina in Italy. (2013)

  • Shadowing Azul Teatro teaching theatre classes for developmentally challenged students in Pontedera, Italy to learn new pedagogical approaches. (2013)

  • New collaborations and research into present arts currents in Bulgaria through Global Connections On the Road Grant from Theatre Communications Group, hosted by the Red House Centre for Culture and Debate. (2014)

  • Performance creation in Chicago (2015) Link

  • Putishta - Bulgaria (2015)
    Outdoor traveling performance collaboration with street performers, musicians, dancers, and circus artists from across Bulgaria. Link
